kbobike.com/TimsElectric
Hey there, it's Tim from Tim's Electric! In this video, I'm diving into the crazy rise in gas prices and how e-bikes can be a game changer for you. If you're tired of burning money at the pump, I've got some great news: e-bikes can save you hundreds, even thousands, of dollars a year. I'll break down the math for you-imagine spending only $5 to $10 a month on charging an e-bike compared to $150 on gas. That's a huge difference!
Plus, e-bikes aren't just about saving money. They're a fantastic way to reduce your carbon footprint, cut down on parking and maintenance costs, and stay active. Whether you're commuting, running errands, or just enjoying a ride, e-bikes offer a ton of benefits. I’ll show you some top e-bike models, like the lightweight and versatile KBO, that can fit easily in your car and take you places efficiently.

      I just find the regen (which is adjustable) to be smoother than normal brakes...plus it keeps wear and tear down on the brakes @rexluminus9867

    #1 problem with ebikes - you own one, what does your partner ride? Consider your fleet needs as more portable and shorter range to start before buying a 35mph one!

    • @TimsElectric
      @TimsElectric 4 дні тому

      @ahowl7mx my wife rides one too...solution :) Do you mean for transportation with the car...I did find a used bike rack (heavier duty) and it works fine...feels a bit sketchy but it worked :)

    • @ahowl7mx
      @ahowl7mx 4 дні тому

      @TimsElectric Yeah bike racks work but ebikes are so heavy and the wheels too large (I have 26inch wheels). Its complete overkill. Take the eRide Pro SS, its 50mph and weighs 135lbs with 19 inch tires. Folding bikes shouldn't be pushing over 100 lbs for 20-30mph or just get a solid frame.

    • @TimsElectric
      @TimsElectric 4 дні тому

      fair ideas indeed :) Although I did get a bike rack with wider tire slots for my ebike and narrower ones for my wife's :)

    They saved me a lot of money the past 12 years and helped me stay healthier in my retired age now. My first ebike kit was from Clean Republic with a Bafang 250 watt geared hub motor. The kit still works but I need two 12 volt Lithium Iron Phosphate battery packs (preferably 10 or 20 AH) for it as it runs on 24 volts. My other ebikes are still running fine.

    I love this guys videos but you can’t forget to include the $$ cost of battery replacement. I’m a battery nerd; I’ve made a career out of Li batteries. PEV’s are hard on the life of the batteries that power them. Good engineering and responsible ownership and maintenance can only go so far to mitigate this fact when it comes to PEV’s. In my experience, sometimes even the best batteries degrade after just 8 months; while some might last for a few years or more. …Suffice it to say, there’s a good reason why they only offer 12 months warranty on scooter and e-bike batteries. Personally, I set aside $60 every month for the batteries and general maintenance. That way I’m not caught off guard by that $850 hit when my Phantom’s 13 month old battery decides to die.

      I have had my ebike for a little over 2 years and have gone around 4500 km on it and all i ever had to fix was 1 flat tire, after that i put flatout in my tubes and no flats since. Battery is still good too. Your issue might be the fact you got an apollo phantom. I used to have an apollo ghost and from my experience and many other people's from what i have read online is apollo scooters are trash.

    • @rev.andyh.1082
      @rev.andyh.1082 11 годин тому

      @@demonocusmetalocus3558 Battery degradation is not a matter of if but when. Brand names have less to do with longevity than most people think. - Given enough time your battery WILL definitely go bad. It’s why Li ion cells are considered a consumable commodity. Typically, our PEV batteries will start significantly degrading long before the rest of the machine does - that’s why a good e-scooter might might come with a long warranty on the frame and hardware , but when it comes to the battery the warranty is only for 12 months - and the battery is by far the most expensive part to replace! …Now, if you are lucky to live in a very mild climate, never letting it get too hot or too cold, and if you monitor and keep the cells balanced for each cycle, and if your scooter’s charger and internal battery management system is well designed (at least by scooter standards) and never suffers a component failure without immediately telling you, then you will probably get thousands of cycles and enjoy several years of good use from your battery. But for those of us who don’t live in an ideal world, best to set some $$ aside and plan on getting a new battery.

    I just got my car paid off, and it's in good enough condition still that I can get a decent amount for it. So I'm planning on selling it and switching to an Ebike as my only means of transportation. I've been doing a lot of research lately, and it seemed like the Lectric Xpedition was the bike for me. But then I saw the Aipas A6 which is basically the same bike but with tons of upgrades everywhere for 100 dollars less. My cynical nature is telling me that deal is too good to be true. But all the added features are very tempting. Like I'd even be willing to pay a couple hundred bucks more for that than the Lectric. But I don't see many reviews on the Aipas A6 out there. Does anybody else out there have experience with the company? Or could you do a video comparing the two (including how their customer service is)?

    • @TimsElectric
      @TimsElectric 4 дні тому

      Sounds like an awesome plan @IgabodDobagi So I haven't heard or reviewed the Aipas...but I would check other UA-camrs and see if they have reviewed it. Also check what happens with repairs/parts...see if they can get these to you And do you have a repair shop that can help. Also and I didn't add this to the video but are the batteries certified?

    Good advice. I will add to consider what level of sophistication you want & need. I wanted to commute over terrible pavement all year, so I prioritized belt drive, front suspension, and good brakes. That all came at a cost that was well over budget. Yet I have no regrets.

    Most e-bikes have tires way too wide for city bus bike racks. Most city bus bike racks won't accomodate tires wider than 2-1/2 inches.

      I didn't know that @kitcatmeeow571 thanks for letting me know :) Cheers

      @@TimsElectric yvw, a driver told me that "literally" 😆 in A PINCH, some riders will let some of the air out of their tires to squeeze fat tires into the rack. Also, a customer service rep told me that if the tires are less than 20 inches, the driver is required to let them take their bike INSIDE of the bus. But they don't advertise this accomodation. So riders are "squeezing" their tires for now. 🤪🫠🚴‍♂️🚴🚴‍♀️

    I currently have an R1 helmet and thinking of buying another so I can communicate with someone riding along with me. I was wondering if both riders can listen to the playlist of one rider's phone while riding and can also communicate while the 2 are riding and listening to the same songs from one of their phone's playlist? I currently ride solo and listen to my playlist via bluetooth, but have no experience with 2 helmets in communication with each other. Have you guys ever ridden while listening to music, or do you have to go only with intercom? Thanks.

    Excellent criteria... and #6...yep, rent a bike/test ride a few e-bikes because you will get valuable insight into what features are important to you... I remember when I jumped on the Mukkpet and how instantly I fell in love with the suspension seat post. Bumps no longer had a direct connection to my lower back. A big upgrade from the MacMission design. So just trying a small variety of different designs can offer huge assistance when deciding on features that you "need" versus just "want". Great video TIm. Sammy says two paws up...!🐶
